Terms of service

Effective: 6 October 2026
Version: 1.0
Applies to: Spend mobile app & services

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Spend. They explain the rules for using the Spend app and what you can expect from us. Please read them carefully — by using Spend, you agree to them.

⚠ Important — please read. Spend is a tool to help you record and understand your own finances. It does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice, and its insights are for information only. See Section 4.

1. Agreement to these Terms

Spend ("Spend", "we", "us", "our") is operated by Anthony Sedjoah, an individual developer based in Ghana. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Spend.

If you use Spend on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms for that business.

2. Who can use Spend

You must be at least 18 years old to use Spend. By using the app, you confirm that you are 18 or older and that the information you give us when registering is accurate and kept up to date.

3. Your account

  • Keep your account secure. You are responsible for your login details and for activity under your account. Use the app lock (PIN or biometrics) for extra protection where available.
  • One account per person. Don't share your account or let others use it on your behalf except as the app allows.
  • Tell us about problems. Contact us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.

4. What Spend is — and isn't

Spend helps you record, organise and understand your own financial information, and (with the business tools) run your sales, invoices, inventory and customers.

Spend is not a financial adviser. Features such as Financial Health, budgets, reports and insights are provided for general information only and are based on the data you enter. They are not financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice, and you should not rely on them as such. For advice about your situation, consult a qualified professional.

Spend is not a bank, payment service or money-transfer service. It is not connected to your bank accounts or wallets, and it does not hold, move or manage your money. Any financial decisions you make are your own responsibility.

5. Acceptable use

When using Spend, you agree not to:

  • Use the app for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose, or to store information you have no right to store;
  • Attempt to access accounts, data or systems that are not yours;
  • Interfere with, disrupt, overload or try to break the security of the app or our servers;
  • Copy, scrape, reverse-engineer, decompile or attempt to extract our source code, except to the extent the law allows;
  • Resell, rent out or commercially exploit the app without our written permission;
  • Upload malware, or use the app to infringe anyone's rights or privacy.

6. Your content & data

  • Your data is yours. You keep ownership of the information you enter into Spend — your transactions, budgets, business records and customer details.
  • You give us permission to run the service. You grant us a limited licence to store, process and display your data solely to provide and improve Spend for you, as described in our Privacy Policy.
  • You are responsible for what you enter. You confirm you have the right to store any information you add, including details about your customers, and that you will comply with applicable data-protection laws when you do.
  • Back-ups. While we take care to protect your data, you are responsible for keeping your own records of anything important to you.

7. Our intellectual property

The Spend app, its name, logo, design, software and content (other than the data you enter) belong to us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable right to use the app under these Terms. These Terms do not give you any ownership of the app or our brand.

8. Paid features

Spend is currently free to use. We may introduce paid plans, subscriptions or premium features in the future. If we do:

  • We will tell you which features are paid, and their price, before you are charged;
  • Purchases and subscriptions made through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store are also governed by that store's terms and billing rules, including how renewals, cancellations and refunds work;
  • We may change prices or the features included in a plan, giving you reasonable notice where required;
  • We are not obliged to keep any particular feature free, but changes will not affect the data you have already stored.

9. Third-party services

Spend relies on third-party services — such as Google and Apple sign-in, the app stores, and our hosting and infrastructure providers — to work. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms, and we are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

10. Availability & changes to the app

We work to keep Spend available and reliable, but we do not guarantee that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free or available in every country. We may update, change, suspend or discontinue features (or the whole app) at any time, and we may release features labelled as beta or experimental that are still being tested.

11. Disclaimers

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent allowed by law. We do not warrant that the app will meet your requirements, that calculations, reports or insights will be accurate or complete, or that the app will be secure, uninterrupted or free of errors. You use the app, and rely on any information in it, at your own risk.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) Spend.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law. Where our liability cannot be fully excluded, it is limited to the greatest extent the law allows.

13. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, losses or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the app, your breach of these Terms, or your handling of other people's information — including your customers' data — in breach of applicable law.

14. Suspension & termination

You may stop using Spend and delete your account at any time (see our Privacy Policy for how account deletion works). We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or to protect the app or other users. When your account ends, your right to use the app stops, and we will handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and indemnity — will continue to apply.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective" date above and notify you in the app or by email where appropriate. Your continued use of Spend after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

16. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ghana, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. You agree that the courts of Ghana will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of Spend, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
